FAQ

  • If you…

    • often feel anxious, sad, frustrated, overwhelmed, or lost

    • find yourself wanting to think, feel, and behave differently, but feel “stuck”

    • notice a pattern in your life that’s not serving you well but aren’t sure how to challenge it

    • feel that your relationships aren’t where you’d like them to be

…therapy is a tool that often helps!

Therapy provides a space for you to meet with a supportive, nonjudgmental professional who is trained in mental health care. It’s great to talk with caring friends and family, but sometimes it’s most beneficial to meet with someone who can be a neutral third-party, entering the situation with fresh eyes and a specifically trained mental health perspective.

Therapy allows us to better understand our needs, feelings, behaviors, motivations, thoughts, and patterns - and notice which ones tend to increase our senses of peace, happiness, and connection.

  • Teletherapy is a great option for those looking for flexibility and ease of access. No need to drive 20 minutes (there and back!) to an office, sort out parking, and sit in a waiting room - just log in from a secure and private location! I ask that you are located in a room with the door closed (this could be your bedroom, office at work, dorm room).

When you sign up for your first appointment and complete your forms, you’ll be emailed a link to my virtual waiting room. This is the same link for each session, so feel free to bookmark it or save it.

If you are in the state of Ohio, have reliable access to wifi, a device able to maintain a video call, and a private and secure space, teletherapy could be a good fit for you!

Sometimes a referral will be made to an in-person therapist or a higher level of care depending on the nature of the presenting concern.

  • This is a tough one to estimate, as every person and every concern will involve different timelines! Typically, people experience some relief within the first few sessions, and notice real, lasting change around 6-8 sessions. Many clients prefer to start out with weekly sessions and transition to every other week or monthly sessions as they see their symptoms improving.

  • I do not accept insurance at this time. Some plans have “out-of-network benefits,” and may reimburse some of what you pay out of pocket. Every plan is different, so the only way to know is to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask about “out-of-network benefits and reimbursement.” I am able to provide you with a superbill that you can share with your insurance if they require this for reimbursement.

  • For first-time patients: first, either call (513) 201-7036 or submit a schedule request by hitting the button at the top right of this page or by clicking here. Submit your information and expect to hear from Rachel within 1 business day. Depending on your availability, you may be able to secure an initial appointment within that same week!

For ongoing patients: at the end of each session, you’ll schedule 2-3 sessions out. This way, if the patient or therapist is sick or has to cancel for any reason, there won’t be a large gap between sessions due to schedules filling up.

For groups: reach out via any portal on this website, call (513) 201-7036, or email rachel@rachelturnercounseling.com and let Rachel know how she can best contact you to discuss further!

  • Everything you discuss with your therapist is HIPAA-protected, which means that your therapist is not permitted to discuss what you share - with a few exceptions. These exceptions include any presence or risk of harm to yourself or others, knowledge of the abuse of a child, elderly adult, or adult with developmental disabilities, or a legal subpoena. Confidentiality allows you to be more comfortable sharing in sessions. We also use Doxy.Me for our video calls, which is a HIPAA-compliant platform.
